I don't have the gaming time I did when I was 25. I have a career that takes up chunks of my time. I'm a 41 year old with a wife and 3 sons who are now 7 years and older. But, I may actually seek out a sim league to be apart of this year.Īnyways, enjoy retirement my friend and wait for that knock on the door to be enshrined into the Madden HOF. After so many years off I'd say I'm a below average player. When the trial came out last week, the first two games I played were actually H2H online matchups. It has just added a new level of excitement and challenge to the game. It wasn't until I came across the Broadcast Cam workaround for Madden that I got rejuvenated to actually play again. I've found that to be the most enjoyable. That's in large part because I've spent the most time playing/editing NCAA 14 and watching how it plays out. I'm 45 and for the better part of the last 7-8 years I've been strictly CPU vs CPU. I just can’t do it physically or donate enough time to be as good as most of you. But there will always be the competitor in me who will miss the head to head battles against a live opponent. Things have worked out great for me and I couldn’t be happier. I’m fine knowing my future lies in getting a couple hours in week as a Franchise guy. It was last year, and the year before…and the years before that. This is in no way a knock on EA or The Madden Franchise either. Physically the quickness and reaction times decay when you’re 45. The problem…the bigger problem…is the rest of you guys have passed me by. My game time is between 10pm and 1am on Weekend nights after the family goes to bed… and that’s it. I just simply just physically don’t have the time to put in. Not a “gamer nerd” stuck in a basement, but just a normal guy who grew up with Madden and always enjoyed it. I tell you that not trying boast, but so you also know that I managed to live a normal life. I am a school principal with multiple degrees including a PhD. A lot of the “problem” is I’ve been married for 10 years now…and have a beautiful 3 year old daughter. The problem is I just wasn’t very good online last year either…or the year before that. I know many of you are probably consistently ranked and even play competitively, but I share that just to give you an idea of quality player we’re talking about. Back in 99 I was in top 5 all year on PC. Just a few years ago I was in top 100 on XOne. There was a time I was consistently ranked. I played the Demo for a few hours against online opponents. I’ve owned a copy on one platform or another for what will be 32 years when mine arrives tomorrow for Series X. I’ve been a Madden guy since the first PC game on my Commodore 64 (Google it) in 89. I’ve pretty much come to the realization the same is true for me.
